On May 17th memobottle partnered with the Good Design Awards for their 60th Anniversary Awards Gala in an effort to raise awareness around the devastating harm caused by single-use bottle consumption.

Held at the iconic Sydney Opera House, the evening celebrated Australia’s most innovative products and services, and the minds that created them. Guests included Jan Utzon, son of famed Opera House designer Jorn Utzon, Michael Bryce AM and Paul Schremmer who designed, among other things, the “Gold Phone” coin operated pay phone.

The memobottle stand was positioned front and centre on the red carpet allowing guests to find out about our bottles, our future projects and our efforts to reduce single-use water bottles. Guests were treated to a complimentary A6 memobottle - which won the 2017 Good Design Award in the Housewares, Fashion and Objects category.

Our partnership with Good Design Australia stems from a shared belief in creating a more sustainable and prosperous world, and it was exciting to see many of the products this year focussing on making the world a better place.

We have selected some entrants (pictured below) that we admire. They might not have won the grand prize, but we think they have the potential to impact society for the better. They range across: Social Impact, Furniture and Lighting, Print, Packaging and Fashion Design categories.
