Second Stitch

Second Stitch is a not-for-profit enterprise that empowers women who seek refuge and asylum by employing them and celebrating their unique skills, traits, traditions, and stories through crafting textile products such as bags, face masks, cushion covers, mats, and a lot more.

Second Stitch

They use a mix of leftover and new fabrics to be made anew into upcycled and eco-friendly products for everyday use. They recently launched their handmade face masks as a response to the mandatory mask protocol in Victoria, Melbourne, which consecutively provided meaningful employment opportunities for some of the most disadvantaged members of the community.

Second Stitch

This social enterprise offers other services like clothes alterations and certificate training for clothing and textile production giving their in-house seamstresses long-term training and skill development. Their free open-for-public sewing workshop called Open Seam also provides an avenue for people of all ages to work on projects, share skills, and spark meaningful conversations with people of different backgrounds.

Support local and provide more employment opportunities by purchasing Second Stitch’s handcrafted products. Check out their socials for more information.
